| ARE YOU WILLING TO LET GOD TEACH YOU HOW TO BE A BETTER PERSON? |
OK, so you want to be a better person? Well, are you willing to let God teach you how to be a better person? Psalm 51:6 says "Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place." Now, this is sort of complicated for several reasons. But mainly, it's complicated because a lot of people in today’s time are so self-confident that they basically can't be taught anything. They appear as if they already know all the answers to all of the spiritual things in life. But the question is, if they know so much, then why is it that so many people in the world today... and even in the church... simply do not like the person they are? Why do so many people feel like they’re not a good person? And also, why do so many Christian people conduct themselves in such a way that makes them appear as if God has no place in their life? Well, one reason is because rather than allow God to teach them how to be a better person, they just take it upon themselves to try and be a better person without God teaching them. They try to do things their way instead of God’s way. And what happens? They continually fail and thus, feel bad about themselves. I want you to notice that David said "YOU teach me wisdom." He didn't say, "Lord, I'm going to do all I can to become more wise and in the long run, I'll become a better person." No, he made it clear that if you're going to be a better person, that's a lesson you have to learn from God. You see, a lot of folks won't let God teach them to be a better person because they've not taken the time to figure out how God teaches them, or they're not willing to use the method that God uses. Because, the way God teaches us is through is word and through his servants. Ultimately, people don't want to be a better person, because they don't want to dig into God's word and see what it says so they can actually know how to become a better person. And also, they don't want anyone else telling them what to do. So when a servant of God tries to, their efforts just go in one ear and right out the other and then they never end up becoming a better person and feeling better about themselves as a result. I just wonder how many different ways God is using to try to get our attention so we’ll listen to his word and to those who are trying to teach us from it? You really want to become a better person? Wouldn't it make sense then to listen the one who has the power to point you in the right direction in becoming a better person?
